Set on the site of the former MoD Naval College at HMS Royal Arthur Park, we are working in partnership with Rangeford Holdings to develop a new Continuing Care Retirement Community on the outskirts of Corsham in Wiltshire.
The scheme has been planned over 5 separate phases and when complete will offer a total of 221 luxury retirement apartments.
The first of these 5 phases was completed in 2016 by another contractor (approximately 100 dwellings) along with an operational central management suite, The Pavilion, comprising restaurant and luxury leisure facilities and 25 assisted living apartments.
We then completed the next 2 phases, 2A & 2B, with each phase comprising 45 apartments split between 2 buildings.
Phase 2A comprised:
A mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom single level residential apartments with main and en-suite bathrooms, and a large kitchen diner area linked by an entrance hallway. All apartments are accessed via either a 2 or 3 storey communal stairwell and passenger lift. Each building is divided into 4 separate cores with a stairwell and lift to each core.
Phase 2 B comprised:
The scheme has a large number of pre-cast concrete balconies all of which are pre finished in white concrete. Through careful co-ordination of the installation and the immediate installation of robust protection, we were able to ensure that both programme and quality of finish was maintained.
The layout of the apartment buildings dictates that each apartment has only one point of access but this layout does dictate a large number of stairwells. Works had to be co-ordinated to bring all of the finishes of both the apartments and the associated stairwells together at the same time. Careful planning and loading out was used to ease congestion through these areas whilst maintaining productivity.
Working in close proximity to a fully operational facility and using shared access.
The use of the Fieldview defect management system was introduced on this project resulting in a more effective and efficient way of logging, monitoring and completing snags and defects as the works progressed.
