Real team up with youth organisation ESTEEM on interior improvements
16 May 2022
In Shoreham, Real have developed a relationship with ESTEEM, a youth organisation directly opposite The Mannings, our latest development involving the demolition of an old 1970’s residential block and construction of 74 homes including 34 of various affordable tenures constructed on the former site of 1960s flats, with the homes ready for residents by Spring 2024.
ESTEEM does fantastic work with 14–26-year-olds to run volunteering, mentoring, wellbeing and social opportunities, and believe in a world where young adults are trusted, supported and respected as an active member of their community.
Throughout Real’s time in Shoreham, they have committed to support ESTEEM wherever possible, kicking it off this week by volunteering at ESTEEM to help them spruce up their community hub.
Although ESTEEM provides such fantastic resources for young individuals its building has deteriorated in recent years. After learning of its building’s need for some attention, members of the team at Real have been on hand to help with the general upkeep, including tidying and giving the interiors a paint refresh.
Real’s Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) team also assisted ESTEEM with risk assessments to safeguard volunteers working in the building, as well as sharing guidance on safe working practices when using equipment such as ladders
Mark Unsworth, Regional Director at Real, said:
“With The Mannings site being in such proximity to ESTEEM we’ve been able to get to know the team well and can see how beneficial the work its doing is.
“We wanted to create a relationship with the organisation and give something back to them in a Real way – hence why we’ve been helping with the interior refresh.”
